To carry out a word count in Notepad++:
- select all of the text (by pressing Control-A)
- click on TextFX (on the menu bar)
- then click on TextFX Tools
- and then Word Count
and that’s all there is to it.

Just an FYI…I constantly look things up. Notepad++ is the ultimate replacement for Windows “Notepad” particularly if you’re coding or otherwise working with text files.
You need to install the textFX plugin first. The new version comes without it.
Click on plugns-> plugin manager -> show plugin manager
in the available tab choose textFX then click install.
