Etched Images, who created these wonderful bottles, is working with me to sell them as souvenirs to WBC attendees. The cost is $30, which is typically the price in quantities of 250 but Stu agreed to work with me to sell them for that price.

This is cost, nothing on the backend. I need to gauge interest then I’ll be taking orders. Interested? please leave a comment below!!!

If enough people want one I’ll work with Stu McFarland (EtchedImages.com) to put together an order form.

NOTE:  The bigger one in the image is a Magnum that is personalized.  Its $10 more for the magnum and I didn’t talk personalization with Stu but I suppose we could do that if the interest is there.

FAQ from Twitter:

1.  Will it be shipped to us?

A:  No, they’re being shipped to the show.  We’re not shipping them to homes.

FYI on that – Wine Skins could help people transport bottles home in their carry-on luggage – THat is from @stoc on Twitter, I don’t know anything about it.

Power Nap – #story140 for 6/26/2009

Mary took a deep breath and tried not to scream bloody murder, since she
was still in the office. Instead she(@joelvincent)…turned up Pandora,
tuned to 80s mod, and danced in her cube to Pet Shop Boys glancing
longingly at (@winebratsf)……asked the Pet Shop Boys if they want to
go walkies. Sure, they said, but can we also go to…(winecountrydog)
the time machine to go back to the 80’s when they still were cool and to
go see…(@sharayray)….Romeo Void. Still, the air in the room had
taken on a dark musty odor. Suddenly, the floor creaked!..(@winehiker)
..my hand reached out for something to grab as the floor gave way. I
stuck the landing, only to find myself staring..(@rickbakas)…at the
underside of her desk, she fell asleep Costanza style at work
again…THE END (@joelvincent)

 Until next week. Cheers!

#Story140 – Crowdsourcing Improv! Fun!

I had an idea that I’d like to get going.  You remember the old Improv game where there is a story and you pass it on to the next person, that person says a sentence or two, then you pass it on to the next person, who adds another couple sentences, and so on until you have a story?

I think that can be pretty cool if we do it with Twitter (and funny/fun if you think about it)!  I kicked around already with @winebratsf who is game (of course).

Just need a theme and then we can kick off a TweetMeme that’ll be a little less boring and a little easier than some of the others.

Here’s how it would work:

First person (me, I guess) posts a theme/topic blog post and tweets it out there.  The tweet should be “#story140 theme <date> <blog post link>”  (update: Forget the theme, lets just do it!)
*  First person then kicks it off with a tweet “<first sentence> #story140 @<nextperson>”
*  If you are the <next person>, then you Tweet “<next sentence> #story140 @<nextperson>”
*  And so on, and so on

Then a search on that tag should develop into something pretty interesting.  Think it over!  I’ll Tweet out the first topic and sentence and I’m more then a little open to suggestions!!!  Tweet topic idea or comment an idea to me on this post.

Cheers and let have a little Friday fun.  🙂

Gizmodo – Linksys WRT160NL Is Fully Linux Powered, 802.11n, and Acts As Media Server – Linksys wrt160nl

After years of having people load custom Linux-based firmwares onto their routers, Linksys decided to just go ahead and make a router with Linux on there from the start. Computer Science grad students are all awkwardly high fiving each other.

The guts of the machine are a 400MHz processor, 32MB RAM, and 8MB flash memory, plus two external antennas for wider coverage. You can also stream media from USB drives through the USB port to UPnP devices. It’s 802.11n compliant, of course, and will retail for $120.

Main point? That it’s Linux-based, so people can shove apps on there like BitTorrent downloaders and whatever else you can find that runs on Linux. [Linksys]

As much as I’d like to make fun of this, if I bought one my evenings, weekends, and clients would be toast for weeks!

AT&T releases dedicated iPhone navigation app

US carrier AT&T has released an official Navigator app for the iPhone. The app mirrors software available for other phones, providing turn-by-turn car navigation to addresses entered on the go, or else on a computer ahead of a trip. Driving commands are spoken aloud, and traffic updates as well as rerouting are handled in real-time.

Another 10-bucks a month to AT&T…hmmm…
